Jeffrey H. MacLachlan

COMRADE CUPP

got a job driving from construction store to jobsite to construction store again when the

contractor lost his license from another dwi. manager ladies shadow my sweaty demeanor. oh let

me take that to the register for you. what does your shirt mean. it’s korean for self-reliance. oh

are you korean. no i just like the philosophy. oh never heard that before.

guys at jobsites shout comrade cupp and give a military salute. spending most of my day on the

road gives me time to consider how much earth is wasted on cars. how americans unleash anger

when armored in bourgeois metal. coexist bumper stickers make my mustache chuckle. as if a

system designed by slavers would encourage collective rights.

after dropping off supplies to the guys at crystal lake, i wade in for a swim. i always say i’m

cooling off but i’m inching closer to jason’s vessel and a marxist cleanse.
